Tim Crabbe
Tim Crabbe is a founder member and Chair of Substance and Professor of the Sociology of Sport and Popular Culture at Sheffield Hallam University. He has a specialist interest in the social dimensions of sport, leisure and popular culture, particularly in relation to the creation of opportunities for young people, which is reflected in fifteen years of applied research in this field.

 

He currently leads the national evaluation of the Home Office funded Positive Futures programme and the Plings project which seeks to establish a national dataset of places to go and things to do for young people. With a succession of publications to his name, he is widely regarded as one of the leading authorities in relation to the research, development and analysis of activity based social policy initiatives targeted at young people.
